About us..

The Roanoke Valley Community Band (RVCB) was organized in 1987.  The band was created to provide a place for adults to play their musical instruments in a band setting.  The present membership is around 80 active members representing a variety of ages.  RVCB operates under the auspices of a board of directors composed of band members.  The director of the RVCB is Mr. Barry Tucker.  Mr. Tucker will  take the podium for his second year this Fall.

Membership is open to residents of the Roanoke Valley desiring to continue using their musical skills in a recreational setting.  The band requires no audition and rehearsals take place every Tuesday night (7:00 – 9:00 pm).  The band meets September through May.

The RVCB plays three formal concerts each year.  Our concerts  include a Winter, Pops, and Spring concert.  All concerts are free with donations being accepted.  We also play for other community events and organizations.  No member receives compensation of any kind.  We are a self supporting tax exempt 501(c)3 organization.

A Band Camp Scholarship is awarded at our Spring Concert to a selected Roanoke Valley middle school student.  The recipient receives a week long scholarship to a summer band camp.
